The bill on the expansion of e-visas coverage area in the Far East has been submitted to the lower house of Parliament on Friday.

“The bill establishes the possibility for foreign citizens to enter Russian on e-visas through the air checkpoints located on the territory of the Far Eastern Federal District,” the memorandum notes.

According to the experts, the expansion of e-visas coverage area will increase the tourist flow to the region, strengthen the investment attractiveness and positively affect the economy of the Far Eastern Federal District.

It should be recalled that in March 2017, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the introduction of the simplified visa regime in the Freeport of Vladivostok.

It is supposed that the electronic visa will be valid for 30 days from the moment of its issuance and will allow up to 8-day stay in Russia. The simplified visa regime was introduced in the Far East on August 1, 2017 and is now available for citizens of 18 countries.

The bill notes that the government of the Russian Federation will determine the list of air checkpoints which will be subject to the simplified procedure for entering the Russian Federation.

As noted, foreigners who entered Russia on e-visas through the checkpoints located in the Far East will have the right to move freely within the region.
