El Ministerio del Interior promovió el proyecto de ley de visas de 365 días para estudiantes extranjeros
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation agreed a bill according to which foreign students in the Russian Federation will be able to receive a 365-day visa instead of a 90-day visa.
According to Alexander Tolstobrov, the representative of the Migration Police Department, the issue of visas is under consideration now. The department endorses the idea of granting students a 365-day visa instead of a 90-day visa.
“There is some progress in this visa issue now; we agreed a change in the draft law on courses. From all appearances, students will soon be able to arrive not on a single-entry three-month visa (valid for up to 90 days), but on a 365-day visa”, — Tolstobrov said.
The problems of foreign students who study at Russian universities have been discussed during the round-table meeting “Legal problems of foreign students in Russia” held in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. Such issues as the validity period of student visas, deportation from the country, and others have been raised during the meeting. The participants of the round-table discussion have also touched upon the issues of receipt and extension of student visas as well as the employment of students.
It should be recalled that earlier the Ministry of Education developed a draft amendment to the legislation. Due to this project, foreign students who entered the university will be able to use the visa they received when they were applicants and won’t have to apply for a Russian visa twice.
