According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, on May 29, 2018, during the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Minsk, an agreement on mutual recognition of visas for the period of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the Second European games 2019 in Belarus will be signed.

“On May 29, a ceremony of signing an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on certain issues related to the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving to participate in international sports events will be held,” the press service reports.

This Sport Agreement will come into effect on June 1, 2018 and remain in force during the above-mentioned international sports events. “The agreement regulates the aspects of visa-free entry, stay and transit travel of foreign citizens who come to participate in sports events,” said the head of the department on citizenship and migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Alexei Begun.

During the 2018 FIFA World Cup, foreign fans with paper FAN ID or just registered information will be able to freely cross the Belarusian-Russian border within 15 days before and 15 days after the championship. Those who possess only a valid Russian visa will be allowed to enter only through international checkpoints.

Sport Agreement will also include the issues of buses completion. Tourist buses that will transport fans to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will be fitted with the Glonass system which will allow monitoring the movement of the vehicle.
