An extended list of specialists, which are not subject to immigration quotas, is approved. Thus, the number of skilled foreign specialists who have the right to come to work in Russia increased.
Such a list is approved in Russia every year since 2008. It includes specialties considered to be in short supply in Russia. Mainly these are doctors, engineers, directors of departments, representatives of creative professions.
Professions that fall on the list are reviewed annually and are dependent on the current market situation. The list is approved jointly with the Health Ministry of Russia.
The current list, compiled in 2012, includes such specialties as welding engineer, design engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, drilling technician, adjustment technician and testing, and technologist. In the general account, the list includes 41 professions.
As noted by the Ministry of Health, the expansion of the list is primarily due to an acute shortage of technical personnel and professionals who are able to work on high-tech imported equipment.
