Russian railway plans reconstruction of the most important railway stations of Russia

The 6th of August press-service of “Russian railway” announced the beginning of the realization of “Program of complex modernization and development of railway stations till 2015”.

The first stage must be finished till 2011 when 77 railway complexes in Moscow, St Petersburg and other Russian cities with the population more than 200 thousand people will be reconstructed.

Russian railway plans to adjust the railway stations, many of which were constructed in the century before last, in accordance with modern European standards. The building of the most ancient railway station of Moscow Leningradsky, completed in 1849, will be reconstructed. According to press-service, most of railway stations are not capable today to provide passengers with the necessary complex of services, but nobody says how the reconstruction will influence the historical values. It is announced that the construction will be conducted with the use of the last innovations in the sphere of engineering and energy-saving technologies.

The contest for the conduction of the construction has been already announced. It will take place the 24th of September 2009 in Moscow. One negotiates about the financial support of the construction. The head of the administration of railway stations of Moscow Sergey Abramov said: “The administration is in touch with the institutions of state and municipal administration of the regions of the Russian Federation on the territories of which the railway stations awaiting the reconstruction are situated. One invites for cooperation the representatives of the biggest investment companies. By the development of the project for the reconstruction their opinion will be taken in consideration”.
